The US government has lifted its block on Anthropic's powerful Claude Mythos 5 AI model, allowing the company to grant access to over 100 US institutions including major corporations and government agencies. The move, confirmed by multiple outlets, marks a significant de-escalation in tensions between the Trump Administration and the AI lab after export controls were imposed two weeks ago that shut down both Mythos 5 and its public-facing cousin, Fable 5. The move follows warnings from Amazon and other companies about the economic fallout of a full shutdown. “significant progress” from the company’s engagement with the government. Anthropic co-founder Tom Brown received the letter from Secretary Lutnick, The Verge reported, capping a rollercoaster negotiation process that saw the models effectively banned before this limited reinstatement.
